Dr. J. Michael Bennett is recognized by his patients and peers as one of the best orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians in the greater Houston area. Doctor Bennett serves patients from Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and all over Metro Houston and surrounding counties from offices on Sweetwater Boulevard near First Colony Mall in Sugar Land and his office in the Galleria area of Houston. He is a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon, and he’s Fellowship Trained in sports medicine. Dr. Bennett completed a fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He’s also earned the Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine.
As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bennett specializes in treating injuries and issues affecting the elbow, shoulder, knee, and some hand and wrist injuries. He is trained and experienced in using the most advanced medical procedures and technologies and favors non-surgical or minimally invasive and arthroscopic treatments whenever possible. Doctor Bennett holds staff appointments to the best hospitals and surgical centers in the Houston area, including The Methodist Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Downtown Houston, several hospitals in Sugar Land, Oakbend Medical Center near Richmond and near Katy.

An athlete himself, Dr. Bennett was Captain of the University of Texas Lacrosse Team. During his sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Bennett served as assistant team physician to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the University of Miami Hurricanes, and the Florida International University Golden Panthers. He served as a team physician for Texas Southern University and the Houston Independent School District. Dr. Bennett has also served as a team physician consultant to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has a vast amount of experience in treating injuries from a variety of sports including football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse.

Dr. Bennett is focused on the care and education of his patients. He thoroughly explains options and procedures, and he wants his patients to be comfortable with the medical decisions they make. Dr. Bennett remains involved in orthopedic research, and he has a number of presentations and publications to his credit.
He is on the volunteer faculty of the UT Medical School as well as the Shriner Hospital for Children. He is also a presenter at the Baylor College of Medicine. He’s proficient in the most advanced orthopedic procedures including carticel transplant and the Tommy John elbow procedure.
Dr. Bennett serves on Board of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he is Chairman of the Multimedia Education Committee. He continues to take part in ongoing research, and he is a member of several medical societies including:
